These triptychs are particularly autobiographical, especially What I Saw: September 11, 2001, paintings based on those events, witnessed from a street in lower Manhattan. The dense, overlapping imagery derives not only from the subject at hand but also from considerations of collage, juxtaposition, and shifts in scale.
